Cardiff and Vale’s Eating Disorder Service aims to provide the most effective care available, counter-balancing best practice within the field with the requirements of individual service users.
In particular the service will be based upon a motivational enhancement model, ensuring that service users are supported to engage in services at the highest level possible, given their stage in their own recovery.
We aim to create a service which supports clients’ independence and is respectful of individual choice, whilst at the same time helping people recover from the tyranny of their eating disorder.
Below is a diagram representing the motivational enhancement model, otherwise known as the stages of change model. A leaflet which illustrates what may be helpful at each stage will be available in the near future.
