You are more likely to give up smoking with support than going it alone. 
 
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) is committed to the health and wellbeing of its staff, patients and visitors.
 
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is a smoke free UHB.  There are shelters on site for anxious relatives and patients, but there is no smoking on our grounds outside of these shelters.

Our in-house Smoking Cessation Service can be accessed by all outpatients, inpatients and their partners, as well as parents of paediatric patients who want support in giving up smoking. 
 
It is estimated that two thirds of smokers would like to quit. Research has shown that you are four times more likely to quit with a support programme than in any other way.

Stop Smoking Wales are running a dedicated Quit Group for UHB staff.  When you call SSW, explain you are a member of staff, and they will give you the option of joining the dedicated Quit Group which meets at UHW.  Otherwise you can join a Quit Group local to you.  Find out more about Quit Groups and the support SSW can offer you on their website.     
 
Smokers Helpline Wales provides free and confidential advice to young people and adults who want to give up smoking.  To get advice, an information pack and details of other support services available, call them on 0800 169 0 169.
