Malcolm Jones

Malcolm is a Pro Vice Chancellor in Cardiff University with a responsibility for the strategic interface with the local NHS bodies. He chairs the Health Schools Strategy Board (HSSB) and is Joint Chair of the Cardiff Partnership Board with the CEO of the UHB. He also acts as the strategic lead for estates in Cardiff University and provided the lead on the development of the £250 million Campus Horizons’ strategy.

Professor Malcolm Jones graduated from the Dental School in Cardiff in 1973 and was the first alumnus to become Dean of the School (from 1999 – 2006). He also held, concurrently, the position of General Manager for Dental Services within Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust.
 
He is a working Consultant in Orthodontics, who completed his specialty clinical training at the Royal Dental Hospital and School in the late 1970s. He has published widely internationally with more than 130 papers and 5 books to his name.
 
He has an interest in the development of innovative undergraduate and postgraduate dental education and has worked professionally on supported programmes in Latvia, India and China.
 
He has been a member of the General Dental Council, its Professional Conduct Committee and the UK Educational Visitation Team. Currently, he is joint Chair of the GDC group overseeing the development of new Graduate Entry Programmes in the UK.
 
He is a member of the Welsh Dental Committee and an elected member of the Council and Senate of Cardiff University.
 
Currently, he is President of the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE), an organisation, based in Dublin that represents and provides strategic leadership for over 200 dental schools in Europe.
