Professor Howard Young represents community interests on the UHB Board, having retired from his post as Vice Dean for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education at Cardiff in September 2009, a post he had held for 17 years. During that time, he commissioned and quality assured the education and training of all junior doctors in Wales.
 
Following his retirement, he is now providing professional advice to the Chief Medical Officer in Wales on a part-time basis and is a trainer of assessors for the National Clinical Assessment Service (NCAS), part of the National Patient Safety Agency.
 
Professor Young is also a facilitator for the Leading Innovations in Healthcare and Education programme run by the Harvard Macy Institute at Harvard Medical School.
 
A  Non-Executive Director of the former Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust, serving on the clinical governance and audit committees, Professor Young brings a wealth of experience in education and training and a commitment to ensuring the University Health Board provides the highest quality of care to its patients.
