Welcome to Pharmacy
The pharmacy department dispenses medicines for outpatients and inpatients. It also purchases, stores and distributes all medicines for use in hospital wards and departments.
Injections for cancer treatment and nutritional mixtures for patients who are unable to eat are prepared in the pharmacy. Information on medicines is provided to doctors, nurses and other health professionals. Pharmacy staff also visit wards and clinics to supply medication and information to patients and their carers.

University Hospital of Wales - Main Pharmacy
Opening hours:
8.30am – 7.00pm Monday to Friday
9.00am – 12.45pm Saturdays and Sundays
Location: ground floor on the right-hand side of the main corridor into the hospital from the Concourse entrance.
University Hospital of Wales - Emergency Unit Pharmacy
Opening hours:
11.00am – 4.45pm Monday to Friday
Location: in the waiting area of the Accident and Emergency Unit.
Note: this pharmacy does not dispense GPs’ prescriptions or sell medicines. If a pharmacist is not available then it is staffed by technicians which may lead to short delays in checking prescriptions.
University Hospital Llandough Pharmacy
8.45am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
9.00am – 12.30pm Saturday
Location: on the ground floor opposite ward West 3.
St Mary’s Pharmaceutical Unit
Opening hours:
8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday
Location: Quadrant Centre, Llanishen.
Whitchurch Hospital Pharmacy
Opening hours:
9.30am – 1.00pm and 1.45pm – 5.00pm Monday to Friday
9.00am – 12 noon Saturday
Location: between Ward East 1 and Ward West 1.
Rookwood Pharmacy
Opening hours:
8.45am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
Location: between Wards 6 and 8.
University Dental Hospital
Opening hours
9.00am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm Monday to Friday
Location: in reception area on ground floor of the Dental Hospital.
Cardiff Royal Infirmary (CRI)
Opening hours for dispensing services:
8.30am – 1.30pm Mondays and Thursdays*
Location: in GUM clinic.
*Pharmacy staff are available outside these hours for pharmaceutical advice.
Barry Hospital
Opening hours:
10.00am – 12 noon Monday to Friday*
Location: in the main reception area.
*Outside these hours patients will be given prescriptions that can be taken to a community pharmacy
