Paediatric Gastroenterology

Welcome to Paediatric Gastroenterology

This specialty covers the gastroenterology (digestive system), hepatology (liver, pancreas and related) and nutritional elements of child health.  We are based at the Children's Hospital for Wales and work as part of the South Wales Paediatric Gastroenterology Network.  For Paediatric Hepatology Services, we are supported by the Paediatric Liver Units in Kings College Hospital (London) and the Birmingham Childrens Hospital.  We offer comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy services throughout the working week.  Outside of normal working hours the service is covered largely by the General Paediatric Department.

Referrals are made directly to the consultants by the secretaries.  We only accept direct referrals from consultants or GPs.  We work closely with the Departments of; Paediatric Surgery, Speciality Paediatrics, General Paediatrics, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Pharmacy (Sterile Products), Paediatric Dietetics and Speech Therapy to provide child orientated multidisciplinary care.
