Paediatric Endocrinology

Welcome to the Paediatric Endocrinology


The Paediatric Endocrine Department provides a service for children with a variety of growth and endocrine (hormone) disorders including short and tall stature, abnormalities of puberty, hypopituitarism, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and gonadal disorders.  It is based within the Department of Child Health and provides for children both locally and across south and mid Wales.


What we Offer 


For Patients:
 
  • General growth and endocrine outpatient service.
  • Dedicated clinics for children with growth disorders associated with previous cancer therapy, renal (kidney) disease and gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Dedicated clinics for adolescent gynaecology (reproductive system) and for children undergoing transition to the adult service. 
  • Specialist service for children with metabolic bone disease. 
  • Shared care of patients from other centres across south and mid Wales. 
  • Outreach clinics in Bridgend, Neath, Swansea, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest, Aberystwyth, Aberdare, Wrexham and Newport. 
  • Day case endocrine testing. 
  • Inpatient facility for complex investigation. 
  • Training for patients starting growth hormone.

Tues am Joint Gastroenterology clinic 4x/annum
Wed am General endocrine and growth clinic
Thurs pm Joint Oncology clinic 2nd,3rd and 4th Thursdays
