Aim of the Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Unit
Our aim is to achieve patients' maximum potential by encouraging self motivation and full participation in the rehabilitation process, which includes attending therapy classes and one to one therapy. Following discussion between patient and our multidisciplinary team, we aim to agree and set realistic goals in obtaining the highest level of independence and future well being. We encourage patients to eat well to maintain strength and bring about a speedy recovery. To facilitate a safe discharge, the multi-disciplinary team works together with the patient and family/carers.
What we do
The Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Unit incorporates its own dedicated multi-disciplinary team. Specialist Rehabilitation is an advancing speciality, increasing in importance in direct proportion to the increasing number of older adults.
Our Unit is currently developing clinical pathways for certain client groups. We also have a comprehensive link nurse system, which actively encourages innovations and implementation in care and assists in the personal development of our staff.
Part of the ward working practice is to participate in Reminiscence therapy within individual and group therapy sessions.
