Welcome to OPAIC (Older Persons Acute and Intermediate Care Directorate)
The Older Persons Acute and Intermediate Care Directorate sits within the Primary, Community & Intermediate Care (PCIC) Division of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB). The Directorate comprises 10 wards and 3 Day Hospitals located on 5 hospital sites.
In addition to the in-patient and Day Hospital services, the Directorate has outpatient services for Parkinson's Disease and Memory Loss and also the Elderly Care Assessment Service (ECAS) . A recent development has been the Cardiff East Locality Team (CELT) which is a rapid access multidisciplinary community service.

Our goal is to deliver excellent, safe, effective and compassionate care for those requiring support to reach their potential for recovery and rehabilitation, using the skills of the Multidisciplinary Team and involvement of the patient / family / carer.
