A neighbourhood policing team serving the Heath and Llanishen areas will be patrolling their beat on bikes thanks to a donation by Cardiff and Vale local UNISON branch.
Mike Jones, Branch Secretary, has presented the team with four new bikes which will be used by the team to attend incidents at the hospital and general patrols in Heath, Llanishen, Birchgrove, Lakeside and Cyncoed. Mike said “ UNISON has an excellent relationship with local police officers who are always on hand to support staff and handle incidents on site. This is a small token of our appreciation to the local team for their continued dedication to protecting staff and patients alike.”PC Stuart Bryant, Neighbourhood Beat Manager University Hospital of Wales, is one of the officers to be awarded a new bike.
“The bikes mean we can patrol a bigger area more effectively and will make a huge difference in relation to a more visible presence at the UHW as we will be able to get to and from the site much quicker,” he said.
“We are grateful to Unison for their kind donation of the bikes and continued support.”
