About Service
The Day Hospital is a small unit, taking a maximum of 10 patients a day. Patients are referred from both the Community and Hospital settings. We also take referrals from Llandough Day Hospital.
Dr Maria Oliver is our Associate Specialist. She attends the Unit on Tuesday mornings and Thursdays.
Patients arrive at approximately 10.00 am and leave at approximately 3.00 pm. Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day.
Patients either provide their own transport or are brought in by a dedicated day hospital ambulance.
The length of day hospital treatment is determined on an individual basis, but usually patients attend for a minimum of six weeks, with regular reviews at the Multidisciplinary team meetings.
Falls groups and Health Promotion groups are also held.
Our aim is to continue with rehabilitation, maintaining health, independence and social wellbeing for patients who live within Barry and the Vale.
