Treatments Available MSK Physiotherapy

What treatments are available?

Physiotherapists use a variety of techniques and approaches. Following an assessment you and your Physiotherapist will develop an individual treatment plan. This plan will be based on the information provided by you and your referrer, and the findings from a physical examination.
Physiotherapy treatment plans may include some of the following:
  • Advice & education (including ergonomics) Physiotherapy Gym Bridging
  • Manual treatments including mobilisations & manipulations
  • Exercise prescription (individual & group format)
  • Acupuncture
  • Electrotherapy
  • Hydrotherapy
Individual treatment plans are developed based on clinical presentation and in partnership with patients. Further information is available from the CSP Glossary of treatments.

Who will provide these treatments?
All Physiotherapists are chartered and registered with the Health Professions Council. This guarantees that their qualification is recognised, they are governed by a professional code of conduct and they are covered by professional liability insurance. Further information is available from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Some treatments and group activities are provided by appropriately trained non-registered support staff.

The University Health Board supports the training of undergraduate & postgraduate students and it is possible that students will be present at your consultation. If you have concerns regarding this or any other questions, please inform the clinic staff.
