Morfa Day Unit

The Morfa Day Unit provides 15 Mental Health places for day-care patients.

Services are focused around acute multi-disciplinary assessment and short-term treatment to support patients within the community setting. The focus of care is on rehabilitation and re-ablement using more flexible services. Step down services (from acute settings) are also provided to patients with a high level of nursing care needs and difficult-to-manage symptoms.

Different client groups are catered for on different days at Morfa to ensure an appropriate environment and range of activities. A number of activities are available and will be varied throughout the month to ensure patients are offered choices that meet their individual preferences.

Referrals to the unit are received from the community mental health teams, consultant psychiatrist, staff grade psychiatrist and the Memory Team as well as drop-in monthly services for anyone with memory concerns.

The unit also provides an out-reach service to other day services through a link nurse, and facilitates access to established community groups. There is a well-established monthly carers' group that has guest speakers and social events.

For more information on Morfa Day Unit's activities, drop-in sessions and Carers' groups please contact the Unit Manager on 01446 704099.
