The services provided by the Directorate of Laboratory Medicine are an integral part of clinical practice, and are provided through 8 unique departments. The main role of the service is to provide and interpret clinically relevant information for the diagnosis, management, early detection and prevention of disease through analysis of a laboratory investigation. Where clinically required, the service is offered 24 hours, 365 days per year. All departments have achieved external accreditation as part of the Directorate's commitment to a quality service.
