The Women's Cancer Centre for Wales

The Women's Cancer Centre for Wales is within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and is based in University Hospital Llandough (ground floor in the maternity wing).  It is part of the South Wales Cancer Network, and provide a gynaecological oncology tertiary referral service for South East Wales and parts of South West Wales.  It also provides a secondary referral service for the population of Cardiff.

The service currently consists of five consultant Gynaecological Oncology sub-specialists, supported by an experienced multi disciplinary team who together provide, maintain and deliver appropriate expert care of the highest standards for patients and their relatives referred to the centre.  The surgical centre comprises a 22 bed ward for inpatients, a rapid access outpatient clinic and nurse practitioner-led pre-assessment clinics. Partnership working with the Regional Clinical Oncology Centre at Velindre Hospital has improved the services provided to women.

Over 70% of the clinical workload is from outside Cardiff, and there are good working relationships with most hospitals in South and West Wales. There is close collaboration with gynaecologists within the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and with related disciplines of pathology, radiology and palliative medicine, and good communication with primary care physicians.

Referrals must be faxed to 029 2071 6375, or by contacting one of the secretaries.
