Equality, Diversity and Human Rights

Our Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Human Rights

Making decisions together

Under the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act 1998, everyone has the right to be treated fairly and with dignity and respect.

This means, for example, that your right to privacy should be respected.  If you stay in hospital, you should not have to share your bathroom or sleeping facilities with people of the opposite sex, except when you need urgent or specialised care.

The UHB is committed to ensuring that all patients, their families and carers, staff and volunteers are treated with dignity and respect and have equal opportunity to access care or carry out their work regardless of their age, religion, belief or non belief, sex, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender re-assignment, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership status.
