Operating Hours
Referrals are taken 08:00 to 17:00hrs Monday to Friday. A visit to ECAS usually occurs within 48 hours of referral (except weekends).
Referral forms are available for use by General Practictioners and the Emergency Unit only. All other referrers should contact us by telephone to discuss.
ECAS Criteria
The Service is aimed primarily at elderly people of 65 years and over who:-
- are at risk of, or who are actively failing in their home or residential care
- are at risk of acute hospital admissin within the next 1-2 weeks without urgent intervention/assessment
- need urgent multi-disciplinary assessment.
We do not normally see:-
- those who are already located in nursing homes
- those with primary mental health problems who do not require urgent Multi Disciplilnary Team input
- those who clearly require same-day admission for acute/unstable medical problems.
