David Jones

David is from Rossett in North Wales and came to Cardiff to study Philosophy in 1979.

 

David joined the holiday company Aspro Travel in 1985 and, following Aspro’s acquisition in 1995, set up his own software company, Travelink Systems Ltd, from his spare bedroom.

 

Travelink grew to become one of the biggest names in its field in the UK and, in 2004, David stepped down from his post as Managing Director to take up a six-month role as Travelink’s Non-Executive Chairman, a move which allowed him to follow other public sector and voluntary interests.

 

David was a Non-Executive Director of Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust between October 2006 and September 2009. He now has the non-exec lead for IT in his Cardiff and Vale University Health Board role.

 

David has an active interest in many forms of technology and economic development in Wales. Outside work, David is married with children and is researching the Welsh roots of Wagner, so far with little success.
