Councillor Dorothy Turner

Councillor Dorothy Turner Dorothy was born in West Bromwich in the Black Country and brought up in Oldbury.
 
Dorothy trained as a teacher, becoming Deputy Head of a large nursery and infant school. She lived in Singapore for three years where her husband, a research chemist, opened a new factory for the multinational company he worked for. The couple relocated to Wales more than 20 years ago.
 
Dorothy was a member of South Glamorgan County Council for a number of years and was Shadow Chairman of Education. When that Council was abolished, Dorothy turned her attention to the administration side of politics until May 2008, when she was elected to the Vale of Glamorgan Council where she is the Cabinet member for Social and Care Services.
 
Dorothy is the local government representative on the UHB and is committed to ensuring that she works closely with her counterpart on Cardiff Council, Cllr John Dixon, to forge even better links between the UHB and local government to deliver improved public services for residents of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.    
 
Dorothy met her husband Martin when they were both pupils at the same grammar school and were married in 1968. They have a daughter and a son and are proud grandparents to one grandson.
