The Cardiff and Vale Eating Disorder Service is a community-based outpatient service for people with eating disorders. The service provided to clients has two elements.
Eating Disorders Specialist Outpatient Treatment (EDSOT)
EDSOT provides time-limited specialist psychological and dietetic treatments as part of the wider Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) package of care for clients within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Service for High-Risk Eating Disorders (SHED)
SHED is a multi-disciplinary team working with severe and high risk eating disorder patients within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, and also within the Cwm Taf area.
Both EDSOT and SHED work with people aged 18 and over who are registered with a GP in the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan area, and who have eating disordered symptoms. They offer a range of individual and group psychological interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Inter-Personal Therapy (IPT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Both the EDSOT and SHED teams also support and provide consultation to other professionals in the area who are working with people who have eating disorders.
