Alison started her career in NHS Wales in 1982 as a Finance Management Trainee based in Gwynedd Health Authority, and subsequently qualified as a CIPFA accountant. She moved to South Wales in 1987 to progress her career, and has held positions in Gwent Health Authority, University Hospital of Wales NHS Trust, Welsh Office, Welsh Assembly Government, Cardiff LHB and Monmouthshire LHB.
 
Prior to the 2009 NHS Reforms, she held the position of Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive at Monmouthshire LHB, and had executive responsibility for improvements in governance. She provided support to the Welsh Assembly Governance Unit during the NHS Reforms process, and was also professional lead for Financial Governance at an all-Wales level.
 
Alison is a member of the UK Healthcare Financial Management Association (HfMA) Audit and Governance Committee, a regular speaker at conferences, and an active contributor to governance publications.
 
Alison is married with a teenage daughter and loves to travel and read in her spare time.
