This is a pilot being run by the Health Board to try and reduce instances where patient fail to turn up for their appointment and wasting staff’s time and resources.
The new Chronos system will contact patients a few days before their outpatient appointment reminding them it is due and asking them to confirm that they are attending.
The Health Board provides around 600,000 outpatient appointments each year but approx 60,000 of those end up being wasted because patients do not attend (DNA).
It is estimated those 60,000 missed sessions could amount to £3 million in lost resources.
The pilot is being run in partnership with Chronos, the multi-media appointment confirmation service from 360CRM Ltd.
360CRM is already providing the service to many health bodies across the UK , and is confident it can repeat the success for Cardiff
