The Cardiac Device Service provides follow-up care for patients with implanted pacemakers, defibrillators (ICD), cardiac resynchronisation devices (CRT) and loop recorders. A full range of diagnostic tests is performed at outpatient clinics, as well as for inpatients and emergency cover for A&E admissions.
The service is provided by a team of Cardiac Physiologists who are highly specialised in cardiac device follow-up, and are responsible for the on-going care of patients with devices.
During implantation, the Physiologists provide assistance in the positioning and testing of the device system to achieve optimal therapeutic benefit for the patient.
The team also supports the device / lead extraction service.
